Chile, an infinite journey: promoting national identity at the airport

In parallel to the presentation of tourism figures, the authorities inaugurated the project “Chile, an infinite journey. The textures of water”, located in Terminal 2 of the Santiago International Airport.

The general manager of Nuevo Pudahuel, Nicolas Claude, highlighted the importance of this initiative for the dissemination of Chilean identity. “We are working on enabling more spaces that allow travelers to know the beauty of Chile, and its landscapes. This effort becomes even more relevant in a context of record traffic, as we close 2024 with 26.2 million passengers and reach 2.6 million, 6% more than in the same period of 2024,” he said.

The project consists of the installation of large format images with explanatory texts, as well as an intervention on the glass of the access corridors with a translucent material that visually represents the geography of Chile, from north to south. The exhibition seeks to transform the airport’s spaces into a sensory experience that reflects the richness of the country’s aquatic ecosystems.

The photographic exhibition highlights the diversity of Chile’s bodies of water, from the vast Pacific Ocean to the imposing glaciers of Patagonia, to the mighty rivers and crystalline lakes of the south. The images, captured by renowned Chilean photographers, offer a unique perspective of the country’s water wealth.

The design of the intervention on the windows follows a chromatic progression that runs through the territory from north to south, starting with yellow tones and evolving towards blue, in reference to Patagonia and its ice. In addition, QR codes have been incorporated that allow travelers to access additional information and tourist data on the most emblematic destinations in Chile.

With this type of initiatives, Chile, not only strengthens its positioning as an attractive destination for international travelers, but also reinforces its cultural and natural identity to the world.
